Seydou Keita is a retired Malian professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was born in Bamako, Mali on January 16, 1980. Keita started his professional career in 1997, playing for local club Djoliba AC before moving to France to play for FC Lorient and Olympique de Marseille. In 2007, he signed with Spanish giants Barcelona and became an integral part of their success over the next four years, winning multiple La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles. Keita also had stints at Chinese club Dalian Aerbin and Italian club Roma before retiring in 2017.
During his time at Barcelona, Keita was known for his versatility, often playing in multiple positions across midfield and even as a central defender on occasion. He was widely admired for his work ethic, teamwork, and leadership on and off the pitch.
